She was the youngest daughter of blind jazz pianist Bob Ringwald. She was very determined from an early age to establish herself in the public eye.

Little Molly, just a kid, went out of her way to play on the stages where her father and his southern folk group performed. They entertained the population of the city of Roseville. The band was called The Fulton Street Jazz Band. They also played in Sacramento, California.

Childhood under the Spotlight

At the age of 6, she released her first album, “I Wanna Be Loved By You, Molly Sings.” Yet, a year earlier, she had already made her first stage appearance. It was a children’s production of  “Alice in Wonderland” at a local California theatre. At the age of 8, the young actress appeared on television in “New Mickey Mouse Club.”

Finally, at age 10, Molly became a rising star. She was cast in the title role of the West Coast Production musical, “Annie.” A year later, she made her TV debut with a recurring role as Molly Parker in the soap “The Facts of Life.”

In 1982, she made her first film under the direction of Paul Mazursky, “Tempest.” It was based on Shakespeare’s play and Molly had John Cassavetes as her partner. Followed by that were three no-budget, no-star films.

Meeting with Famous Directors

It was Molly’s meeting with director John Hughes that finally set the ball rolling. She was a wild Northern California teenager with a flamboyant head of red hair and freckles. Molly continued under Hughes’ direction with the famous “Breakfast Club.”

One major role in the early 90s for Molly Ringwald was in “Betsy’s Wedding.” It’s a bittersweet comedy directed by comedian Alan Alda. Finally, the destiny of the young woman took her to France. Quite a long way from downtown Roseville.

Molly swapped Los Angeles for France to shoot a film, “Face the Music,” which hasn’t been released. She meets her lover there, as well as some directors who offered her several roles. Among them were Jean-Charles Tacchella and especially Tonie Marshall. They made her one of the four “Children of Bastards” in the homonymous film.

The Hollywood Adventure

Molly finally felt the call pulling her a bit closer to the Sacramento area this time. She left for Hollywood where she made a thriller, “Malicious.” It was a new genre for her and she got her own sitcom, “Townies.” The next step for her career began to take shape, despite the occasional flash role.

Today, she’s the star of “Cut.” She plays an outrageously pretentious and capricious American starlet. We’re expecting Molly Ringwald in a new horrific thriller, “Requiem for Murder.” She plays a radio host who’s passionate about classical music and who starts to kill her detractors.

Molly went from Roseville resident to Hollywood starlet, leaving a trail of beloved characters. She continues to make Roseville proud, the place she calls home.

How To | Create a Backyard Oasis for Father’s Day https://www.celebrationspartyrentals.com/how-to-create-a-backyard-oasis-for-fathers-day/ Mon, 01 Jun 2020 21:56:19 +0000 https://celebrationspartyrentals.com/?p=15054

Celebrating Father’s Day at home this year? Here are 5 tips on how to create a backyard oasis for dad to relax and enjoy!

1. Lounge around

Nothing says “thanks for all you do” like a day of lounging! Set up a comfortable lounge where dad can kick back and enjoy a nice cold beverage.

2. Cool it down

By the time Father’s Day rolls around, the days are definitely getting hot! Make your yard the coolest place around with Oscillating Fans with Misters, Portable Coolers, and shade structures like 10-T Tents or Market Umbrellas.

3. Bring on the beer

Is dad a big beer fan? Host a beer tasting with full flights from his favorite local brewer in our Beer Tasting Glasses on your choice of a tray or board. And if dad is more of a wine or spirits guy, we’ve got the glassware for that, too! Feel free to give us a call and one of our associates can help you find everything you may need for any kind of tasting.

4. Fire up the grill

Of course no backyard celebration would be complete without some BBQ! Fire up the grill and serve some of dad’s summer favorites. If you don’t already own a grill, you can always rent them for a weekend!

5. Wind down around a fire

Once the sun sets, light up a Fire Pit to wrap up a fun day with more laughs, tasty drinks, and, of course, s’mores!

5 Tips for Event Planning During Coronavirus https://www.celebrationspartyrentals.com/tips-for-event-planning-during-coronavirus/ Mon, 25 May 2020 18:51:43 +0000 https://celebrationspartyrentals.com/?p=15024

Event Tip #1: Set up a handwashing station

You can create a handwashing station anywhere with soap, clean water, and a few rental items. Pictured here are our Weathered Garden Stand, Glass Beverage Dispenser, and Napkins in Cabo Papaya and Cabo Honeydew. You can use the linen bag we provide as a basket liner for used napkins, pictured here on top of a Gunmetal Barstool. Then, when your event is over, simply cinch up the bag, return it to us, and we will take care of the laundering.
This setup is especially useful for outdoor events where a sink may not be easily accessible, and a great option to decrease paper product waste while still encouraging abundant handwashing at your event.

Event Tip #2: Seat one household at each table

Whether your event is a wedding or a birthday party, create a seating plan and dedicate each table to one household. Be sure to set the tables at least 6 feet apart. We have tables that seat as few as 2 people, and up to 12. Check out this reference guide to learn about the different sizes of tables and how many they can seat. And always feel free to call, email, or live chat with us if you have any questions!

Event Tip #3: Reduce your guest count, and increase the style!

With the reality of lower guest counts comes one huge upside: savings in your event budget! Planners may find that they can now afford a highly stylized look that would have been difficult with a higher guest count. Here’s one example of a couple who opted for only 30 guests at their wedding, and was able to upgrade their flatware, napkins, and sweetheart table decor with our new Remi Arbor. This couple also utilized Tip #2 of seating one household per table, and used custom family name cards instead of table numbers.

Event Tip #4: Consider partitions for close-proximity areas

For areas like bars, food stands, or smaller dining areas where social distancing will be difficult or impossible, consider renting or purchasing partitions like these to help keep your guests safe. We can custom build these clear vinyl partitions in a variety of configurations, from full-length clear walls to counter-height partitions for bar tops or other service stations with pass-through cutouts. They are currently available for rental or purchase, and can be custom built to fit any space. Please contact us if you’re interested in renting or purchasing a partition!

Event Tip #5: Use contact-free alternatives when available

Many companies, including those of us in the event industry, are transitioning some of their functions to include contact-free options. We have made some improvements to our own infrastructure to ensure the rental process is just as fun and problem-free whether you prefer to do it all remotely or visit us in person at a showroom. This reference guide covers what contact-free alternatives we currently have available for each step in your event planning process.

Trend Alert | Lounge Areas https://www.celebrationspartyrentals.com/trend-alert-lounge-areas-2/ Fri, 10 Apr 2020 12:00:00 +0000 https://celebrationspartyrentals.com/?p=14975

As long as there are guests at your event, a lounge area is always a big hit! It’s the perfect place to take a break from the dance floor, have great conversations, or sip on cocktails. Here are some ideas of how to incorporate a lounge area into any type of event, and some tips on how to style it.

1. Wedding

A lounge area at your wedding reception is bound to be a popular addition, both for style and function! Not only do lounge areas make for some beautiful detail photos, it also provides comfort for your guests so they can enjoy celebrating well into the evening. While a lounge area can be a welcome break from the dance floor, try to position it away from the source of music so that its occupants can carry on a conversation. Near the bar or in an unused corner of the room are great places to put a lounge.

2. Corporate Event

From holiday parties to large conferences, a lounge area can immediately take a corporate event from stuffy to relaxed. If your event is more of a party, the function serves the same as the wedding lounge, offering a place for guests to sit back and enjoy. But don’t overlook the benefits of a lounge area at a conference or workshop event! Providing attendees with a comfortable seating area, whether it’s designated for breaks or incorporated right into the active space, can make attendees more at ease, ready to learn and contribute, and productive.

3. Baby Shower

When planning a baby shower, the addition of a lounge area will be appreciated by all the guests, but is almost a necessity for the parents-to-be. A designated spot for the guests of honor will give them a focal place to sit while opening gifts and provide a comfortable location to socialize with guests throughout the evening.

4. Personal Parties (Birthday, Anniversary, Graduation, etc.)

Similar to the baby shower lounge, a designated spot for your guest(s) of honor makes it easier for them to open gifts and socialize with guests in a focal location. But it’s also an ideal seating option for parties that won’t be hosting a formal sit-down meal. Sofas, chairs, coffee tables and side tables are enough to provide ample seating and table space for beverages and any finger-food appetizers. Adding some cocktail tables and barstools can mix up the look and provide even more seating and table space.

Color Story | Spring Colors https://www.celebrationspartyrentals.com/color-story-spring-colors/ Fri, 13 Mar 2020 18:23:00 +0000 https://celebrationspartyrentals.com/?p=14950

Spring is just around the corner, which means wedding season is quickly approaching. When people think of spring, they usually think of new blooms and pretty colors. Here are some looks that can be incorporated into any pre-wedding festivities or even the big day that still reflect the bright colors of spring but are not your everyday pastels.

Indigo & Mango

Starting off with a neutral base like white allows more use of a bold color. The trick is to use this in moderation throughout your wedding or tone it down with another color. The indigo napkin helps to tone down the mango table runner without taking the pop of color away. Another way to either bring out the color or moderate the color is with the table settings. The clear charger and silver flatware add a simplistic look while the plates add a decorative touch.

Papaya & Sea Green

Farm tables are perfect for any themed wedding and are great for those who enjoy a softened or eye-catching color palette. The papaya napkin adds the burst of color while the sea green table runner calms it down. In this table setting, the flatware and Dixie Goblet add to the showiness of the table while still complimenting the colors. The delicateness of the clear charger and plates help mute the tones of papaya and sea green.

When it comes to spring wedding colors it’s okay to think outside the box!

How To | Use Chargers https://www.celebrationspartyrentals.com/how-to-use-chargers/ Fri, 06 Mar 2020 18:56:00 +0000 https://celebrationspartyrentals.com/?p=14944

What is a charger?

A charger, sometimes called a chop plate, is essentially an oversized plate that is placed beneath the dinner plate at a place setting. They are not typically meant to serve food, but instead help prevent spills onto the table or table linen, help retain the heat in the dinnerware placed on top, and bring additional style to the table.

Why do I need a charger?

There are a few reasons why you might decide to use chargers at your event. Here are the most common:

1. As a place holder: More and more commonly, plates are stored away from the table until it is time to eat. Whether you’re planning on keeping a stack of plates at the buffet table or having the meals plated in the kitchen before being served, you may find yourself needing something to mark each guest’s place at the table without plates. Chargers are an ideal solution, as they can be just as visually striking before the plates arrive at each setting, and they clearly define where each guest should be seated.

2. To add some extra style: Chargers come in a wide variety of shapes, colors, patterns, textures, and designs, making it a great spot to incorporate a statement design element to your table. A pop of color, a unique shape, or a metallic finish at each table setting can transform the overall look of your event.

3. As part of a formal table setting: If you are going for a formal dining experience, the charger is a staple of traditional place settings. We carry styles that perfectly match china sets, or specialty options to coordinate with your china selection.

How do I pick the right charger?

Chargers can either blend in with your table setting, or add a pop of color or contrast. The best way to find the look that you love is to experiment! In any of our showroom locations, you can see all of our charger and china options and stack them however you like until you find the right combination. Or you can use the Table Design Center on our website to get an idea of how your table will look and send it to us for a free quote.

Looks We Love | 3 Ways to Make a Statement with Linens https://www.celebrationspartyrentals.com/looks-we-love-3-ways-to-make-a-statement-with-linens/ Fri, 14 Feb 2020 18:22:00 +0000 https://celebrationspartyrentals.com/?p=14922

Linens aren’t just your standard table covers anymore. With so many size, color, and texture options available, creating the perfect look for your next event is as simple as choosing the right linens. Here are 3 ways you can use linens to make a statement at your next event.

1. Mix it Up with Patterned Linens

While some patterns are subtle enough to use on all your table linens, many bolder patterns look best when incorporated in smaller doses. You can place patterned table linens on every other table, on accent tables only, or use them as runners, overlays or napkins on a more neutral base.

2. Paint the Room with Colored Linens

Don’t be afraid to experiment with rich, brightly colored linens that will accentuate your event’s theme or color palette. Mix and match some coordinating colors to create a dynamic look that stands out, use a bright napkin on a neutral table to incorporate just a splash of color, or try including several shades of one hue to underline a strong color theme.

3. Create Dimension with Textured Linens

Textured linens are becoming a big trend for 2020 events. Velvet and satin are subtle and romantic textures that can be incorporated as full table linens, or just in your table runners or napkins. Sequin linens are a fun way to add sparkle to any event as an accent, on key tables or as runners. Or you can create lush texture with oversized runners or overlays, gathered or knotted to serve as a dimensional runner.

At the reception, these chairs are the perfect base to dress up in your own unique style, both as dining chairs and as part of a lounge setup. Keep them simple for a sleek look, add faux fur on the seats for a modern and cozy vibe, or throw on some pillows for a pop of color.

4. Gunmetal

If you think Gunmetal Chairs are only applicable in industrial settings, you might be surprised at how well they blend with a wide variety of looks. From edgy to romantic, they can add gorgeous contrast and an unexpected design element to any event style.

5. Cross Back

Wooden Cross Back chairs are one of the most popular chairs in our inventory for reception, ceremony, or any type of event seating. Padded Folding Chairs (available in White, Black, Natural, and Walnut Wood) and Off-White Samsonite Folding Chairs are quick, simple, and easy solutions to seat large crowds without a large bill. These simplistic chairs don’t add much in the way of style, but they certainly get the job done and seat your guests comfortably.

Looks We Love | Minimalist Wedding with a Pop of Color https://www.celebrationspartyrentals.com/looks-we-love-minimalist-wedding-with-a-pop-of-color/ Fri, 31 Jan 2020 18:12:00 +0000 https://celebrationspartyrentals.com/?p=13972

This year’s wedding trends have proven that in 2020, less is more. Of course bright palettes can be beautiful, but there is something so elegant about simple tablescapes that allow neutral colors, natural beauty and, most importantly, you to make the biggest impact at your wedding. Keeping the overall table design simple and elegant while adding a pop of color will be a definite way to keep your wedding’s style both on-trend and timeless.

Incorporating color can be done in a variety of different ways. Whether it is through a colorful napkin, a statement centerpiece, or elegant glassware, a splash of a bright hue can add a fun twist to an otherwise minimal table design.

Start with the accent color of your choice and then tie in a base layer of simple, neutral hues to allow your accent to really pop. If you already have a color palette selected, use the brightest color as your accent. For your neutral base, select from timeless hues like white, ivory, grey, silver, and gold.

With this simple tablescape structure, your wedding’s color palette will truly pop without overtaking the whole setting. The resulting minimalist look will be beautiful and unforgettable for years to come.
